Pieu goes to find, learn, discover, and aspires to spread and preserve brocade craft villages and traditional craft villages in Vietnam.
We do it out of excitement, and always focus on quality over quantity
Each handmade Brocade product contains a part of the soul and personality of the person who makes it (also known as the Artisan), they choose the color, shape, and texture for that particular product and apply it. Different techniques for each product such as weaving, embroidery, batik drawing, Ikat dyeing,...
A brocade cloth that is formed must go through many different stages, taking a lot of time and effort such as planting cotton, harvesting, turning cotton, spinning, dyeing thread, hooking the fabric, putting on the loom, finishing weaving, and decorative embroidery. These are just the main stages and when done, it requires many people to participate in order to support each other, each time the fabric is on the loom, it is hundreds of meters long. In addition, not only cotton but also other materials with more complex processes such as silk cocoons, flax, hemp, jute, etc.
Tho Cam Pieu collective wishes to spread the value and share basic knowledge about brocade with everyone and especially young people who want to learn. Each product you buy contributes a part of the material and spiritual value to the craft village community, and ethnic minorities in the highlands, and especially has contributed a part to the "Playground for children" fund in the high area. Pieu will spend 50% of profits and call for more donations to repair and build healthy schools and playgrounds for children in really difficult places across the country.
As an architect who is knowledgeable about art and passionate about travel, having traveled through many cultural regions at home and abroad, Do Chi Nguyen, the founder of Tho Cam Pieu, is impressed with the way in which cultural beauty is preserved. in neighboring countries. While in Vietnam, he realized that the scale of craft villages gradually dwindled. Traditional craft techniques are no longer cherished and preserved by the younger generation.
Through long trips throughout Vietnam and especially in the northern mountains, Do Chi Nguyen was really impressed with the costumes and daily items of the ethnic minorities living here. Since then, he decided to build Tho Cam Pieu so that he could preserve and spread these valuable cultural features. Handmade brocade products convey the unique cultural values of Vietnam to domestic and foreign customers. Above all, Tho Cam Pieu hopes to bring sustainable work to residents, promote them to stick with their traditional craft for a long time, and be preserved by the next generation.
With love,
